      Senior Manager Sales Operations Interview

      29 Sept 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Sept 2020

      Interview

I have more than 10 years of experience in sales ops and sales analytics and there is not any dimension in this field which I have not been exposed. I had one phone screen with one manager and I was asked Basic questions on Resume and Work Experience. Asked How do you do Quota planning in your current company, how do you forecast quarter-close number. The one mistake I did was by asking some tough questions to interviewer- when it was my turn- I asked how do you project your sales commissions even when your contract payments are based on consumption - how do you account for large customers like zoom when they can have sudden spike in payments due to high usage ....in such a case how is deal size is forecasted and how is budget allocated for sales commission ....the interviewer was caught offguard and fumbled in explaining this to me and I probed him further which irked him. He was obviously unprepared and was not expecting such an involved question to be asked and could not answer after initial hiccups ...just said I can't disclose these details. Lastly advised me that work culture is pretty different and you are not allowed to show power-point slides and spreadsheets in meetings ....you need to come prepared with written documents which is very difficult to adjust so you should think twice about adopting to it. Bottom line is .....play dumber than your interviewer ...being smart not necessarily help always.
