I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Boeing (Seattle, WA) in Oct 2010
Interview
Boeing has taken significant effort to make the hiring process equal for all applicants. The 'good 'ol boy' network is there, but no where near how it used to be. Jobs are applied for online, and easy to search for. Interviews stay pretty much along the lines of the job posting; no surprises,

Question 1
Tell me about a time you led a group through a change in their everyday software tools?
Virtual interview with a panel in 30 minutes. Felt awkward because no one turned on their video except myself. Perhaps this is a security precaution for a defense-related position. Answered five standardized questions.

Question 1
There is nothing technically specific about the job—standard behavior questions. How do you handle a difficult co-worker? What was your most challenging technical project? Etc...
I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Boeing in Feb 2012
Interview
The company uses a structured interview process, in which all candidates are asked the same set of questions. Each Question has a few probe questions to be used as follow up. The typical interview will have 3-5 panel members, including HR, the hiring manager, and some team members.
For a management position, most of the questions are behavioral. You are asked about times when you had to deal with difficult situations, people, or deadlines. The expected response format is SAR: Situation, Action, Response/Result.
Interviewers take notes on each answer you give. Typically if you get asked probe questions, it means you did not supply enough detail or didn't answer the question properly enough for the panelists to make an assessment. For each question you are scored by each panelist. At the end of the interview the panelists will compare and consolidate ratings (you will not be a part of that).
