      Client Success Manager-Atlanta Interview

      10 May 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Box in May 2018

      Interview

The phone screen with their recruiter was straight forward and pleasant. The recruiter gave great descriptions of the role, and set me up for a call with the hiring manager a couple of days later. The hiring manager was close to 10 minutes late for the call, and was driving or in the car the entire time. He seemed distracted, busy and scattered. After a brief discussion about my background, he asked several retention-based questions clearly looking for one specific answer. I spent 10 minutes of giving example after example of "how to save a client", it was obvious that my answer was not satisfactory and quickly got off the call without any additional questions. Additionally, he snarked that I had "answered how to identify when a client is in jeopardy but what do you do about?" (whoa, buddy, that's half the battle with retention!). The comment was ironic b/c he had asked specifically how I go about identifying if/when a client is in jeopardy... This was definitely not a chemistry match, and if there had been an ask for an additional interview, I would've declined simply because I couldn't work for someone as aggressive as the person I spoke with in the second round.
