      Marketing Interview

      3 Aug 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Capital One in Jul 2021

      Interview

      1. Phone Screen with Recruiter 2. Math / Behavior Online Assessment 3. Video Interview with Hiring Manager 4. Phone Call with Recruiter to prep for Power Day 5. Power Day - 7 back to back interviews over Zoom I went through all of the steps above over a two month period. My recruiter was incredibly friendly and helpful along the way, although it was a long time between the interview with the hiring manager and being moved to Power Day. I took off a full day of work for Power Day, prepared heavily for the interviews, and had 7 back to back difficult interviews with various team members, I thought each went great - I connected with each interviewer, conversation flowed easily, and many of the interviewers even mentioned how great of a fit I would be. My recruiter called me the same day as Power Day and told me I would hear back within 48 hours. A full week passed and I hadn't heard anything so I reached out. After reaching out, the recruiter called and provided no information other than "everyone really liked you but they hired someone else." No feedback on the interview. I spent SO MUCH time throughout the process and on Power Day (which was exhausting but worth it if you get an offer) only to feel like in the end that I wasn't even deserving of the team telling me they hired another person. I wonder if I hadn't followed up if they would have even ever told me. I really liked everyone but in the end I left feeling incredibly discouraged and with a horrible taste in my mouth about the company. There were many open roles on the team so if you are going to spend that much time with a candidate, why not try to find another fit?

      Interview

The interview process includes a phone screening, which went extremely well. It mostly consisted of specific questions about years of experience that are required and preferred in the role description. Then you're required to take an online assessment. I took several practice tests and did a ton of research to prepare, although Capital One says no preparation is needed. It took me more than an hour to complete and I was very confident in my answers. Once submitted, I was immediately notified that I can no longer move forward in the role. If I did pass, the next steps would be a meeting with the hiring manager and then a "power day" consisting of 4 in-person interviews over 1-2 days, requiring time off from my current company. I do not recommend.

      Interview

There were 2 interviews that I did virtually. The first was 15 min and the second was 30 min. Both were really formal but the interviewers were nice. They asked questions that were mostly behavioral more than technical questions.

      Interview

The process was long and unnecessary. First you get a screening call and then finish an online assessment. Afterwards if you pass you get set up with a meeting with a manager type, then if you pass that stage you have to go through 5 rounds of back to back interviews during their "power day" and good luck if you get someone that's done other interviews already bc they'll be tiered, uninterested and hard to talk to. Then once you're done with ALLLL this you'll get ghosted for 2 weeks just to be told they cant extend an offer to ANYONE bc they dont need to fill this job in anymore... And this enire process took over 2 months at this point...
