      I interviewed at Centene

      Interview

This experience was not great. I was surprised when I discovered the first step was to take time to submit a video interview before speaking with anyone. I've heard of this and after going through it think it's a less than ideal candidate experience - cold, impersonal, one-sided. The only contact I had was receipt of two emails back to back in my inbox - one saying they'd like to interview, and one from an organization through which they ask you to submit responses to questions via video. First, the website didn't work with my webcam, though I had been on a Zoom meeting earlier that day and it worked perfectly. I spent over 30 minutes troubleshooting with their guides and finally reached back to the recruiter. (I am a fairly tech saavy person generally.) I was forwarded to the website's Help desk. It was another hour of my day going back and forth trying to figure out what was wrong. Finally I resolved the issue myself, and felt myself starting to get frustrated with how much time I was having to invest before accomplishing a task that had a deadline when I felt almost in the dark about where things were going and if I wanted to be investing this amount of time with so little information. When I logged in I found there were several questions posed - actual interview questions, not questions designed to get to know you and your general experience. There was no content provided to help me understand more about their team, what they hoped the role would support, what they were looking for in a candidate. I am not sure how they expect candidates to tailor their answers when they don't provide information their goals and the experience they feel they need. I thought about withdrawing here because I had already invested lots of time and didn't know how successful such a set up could be. I decided to finish it, which took me another hour. Later that night I checked my email to find a system message indicating there was a candidate status update with a request to log in. I logged in to the careers site and was immediately asked to update fields in their system. I didn't see any updates. Again, I was left with the feeling I was investing time and effort leading to an unknown place. The next morning I received another system generated message letting me know I was not moving forward. I was caught off guard with the speed and impersonal approach, especially since on paper my experience was almost line for line what the job description said. I didn't get to speak to anyone, but they were able to judge me from a contact-less, one-sided "interview" that I didn't feel I was in a position to be successful with. This company doesn't seem to understand many candidates are also evaluating them as they don't account for mutual exploration. Not a great experience from a candidate perspective.

      Interview

The process went quite well until the very end. I had multiple interviews with various individuals, which required me to take multiple stretches of time off from my current employer. Then I was ghosted. No "dear John" letter, no email communications back inquiring on status, nothing. Really poor treatment in the end, which is a shame.

      Interview

Truly the worst candidate experience. They ask you to reschedule interviews and move quickly because they are in a hurry to fill the position. However, they communicate terribly with the candidate. 7 interviews in 2 months and zero communication from them but position has not been filled. If this is how they treat their candidates, I can’t imagine how they treat their employees.
