      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Dell Technologies (Dublin, Dublin) in Oct 2015

      Interview

Got contacted on LinkedIn for a graduate software developer role. The process consists of 2 interviews then the job offer. The next week I had the first interview this was done via Skype call from one of the dell developers from DELL India. The week after that I had the second interview this was done also via Skype from one of the hiring managers from DELL India.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The first interview I was asked about my CV and my asked questions about my final year project. this interview was easy enough. The second Interview I was asked about my CV but not my project (the interviewer didnt seem to care) then I was asked some puzzle questions. For example: If you have a rope that takes 30 mins to burn. How long would it take you find out if 45 mins of time have passed if you dont have a clock or anything just 2 ropes?

      Software Developer Graduate Interview

      17 Aug 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dublin, Dublin
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Dell Technologies (Dublin, Dublin) in Jul 2015

      Interview

Very long and tedious process. First round is cv screening as all jobs which is completely fine. Second is video interview call. I interviewed with a guy in Texas, the interview went great and the guy was so nice but there was certain technical issues which were hindering the interview so it wasn't ideal. The third round was an assessment test conducted online for a limited time. This was done to see the level the candidate was at and how to deal with time pressures which went completely fine. The final round was an onsite interview which consisted of 3 phases, a team, a competency and a technical. The team one was fine as you just had to work together to list survival tasks. The competency one was based on college projects and previous work employment which was also fine, you would be grilled in this interview but it is fine and you must answer all questions using star analogy. The technical interview is the toughest, you're really expected to know theory on this. This is really the part that will set you up for this job or see you fall at the last hurdle.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

3 object oriented breakdowns What is inheritance? What is encapsulation? What is polymorphism? How do you distinguish a class? What is your understanding of scrum? What is your understanding of agile? How would you check all dates in the visual pages a customer sees on the website have been updated to the new year? Something about error404
