After applying online, I had an initial phone screen with a Senior Group Manager. I was then invited in to interview with a Senior Group Manager, Group Manager, line VP, and an HR representative. The interviewers were very cordial, and I enjoyed the opportunity to sell myself and what I could bring to the role. The interviews went very well, so much so that I expected a job offer would be forthcoming. I was told that the process takes time, but that they didn't leave candidates 'hanging'. Well, that's exactly what happened. More than 5 months after applying, and more than 3 months after my interview, I have still not heard one way or another regarding the role I had interviewed for. Repeated attempts to contact the individuals I had interviewed with were met with more silence.
In summary, the recruiting process at Fifth Third Bank is broken and unprofessional if it is unable to come to a timely decision on a candidate and then to provide a personalized response, especially for a candidate invited in for three hours of one-on-one interviews. This is especially ironic for a bank that is purportedly singularly focused on personalizing the business of banking. Perhaps some of that singular focus should be directed towards the equally important business of recruiting....
