      Area Manager Interview

      5 Jun 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GE

      Interview

Received call from HR department asking for more info. Was then informed I was chosen for a face to face interview. I was flown to the interview location and had a series of interviews with 3 people including the hiring manager. Everything was very low-key, low pressure. Typical interview questions. I was surprised that the process was so casual and informal.

      Question 1

I was told by the hiring manager simply that he couldn't afford me. I asked for an offer to see if we were that far apart and was not given one. Just general, "you are too senior for this position" and no offer. Not sure if it was just an excuse or if I blew the interview somehow.
