      Account Manager Interview

      2 Nov 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Google (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2021

      Interview

The interview process was broken into the below sections. 1. Recruiter - 1 person 2. Batch Interviews - 2 people 3. Hiring Manager - 1 person 4. Team Match - 1 person/team 5. Hiring Committee 6. Offer Spoke to 5-10 people. The range is dependent upon how many teams you're matched with.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Recruiter - Primarily asks to talk through your resume, what do you do at your current position, and why are you interested in Google Batch Interviews - Situational, behavioral, and culture fit questions. Be prepared to talk about success + failure projects, how you manage/handle problems, and "what if" scenarios. All answers should have some Googley element behind them - humbleness, lessons learned, inclusivity, team player, but most importantly POSITIVITY. Hiring Manager - HM decides if you are a good fit for the overall department before matching you to a team. You can expect a general rundown of your resume (primarily focusing on what you are currently doing). There were some similar questions used in the Batch Interviews. Here, I studied a bit of everything the department had to offer and varying products. If you are like me, instead of reading up on the product, watch YT demo videos! Team Match - Once matched with a team, here you can expect more "what do you currently do" but withh emphasis on how you would be a good match for the specific team you're speaking with. I would recommend reaching out to the recruiter to provide a job description + do some research on the team/product. Key Takeaway: - Scrub all of the internet to best prepare for behaviorial/situation/culture fit questions. Jeff Sipe on YT was wonderful on this front. - Watch YT demo videos, read up on documentation, read the news regarding the industry - Keep your answers consistent with the overall message you want to sell to Google. Eg: Are you a leader or want to be one? Make sure to incorporate this message to most of your answers - Be positive! - In the end, be yourself and be genuine. All in all, I had a wonderful experience and the recruiter kept me updated on the process as well as supply materials for me best prepare. If your recruiter does not, do not hesitate to ask!
