      Intern Interview

      15 Apr 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Cambridge, MA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in Mar 2017

      Interview

After I was referred by a HubSpot employee, I was contacted within 24 hours to set up an initial 30 minute phone call with a recruiter that was more like a conversation than interview - just wanted to get to know me a little bit better as well as my personality. I had prepared questions for her to understand the role on a deeper level and ask how I could set myself up for success. Told me at the end of the call that she would have me speak to one of their analysts a few days later and we set up a time for that call. Next call was another 30 minute phone call where I got to learn a little bit more about the role and the team I would be working with. Again, made sure I had questions prepared and my questions probably took up about half of the call. Was notified within a few days that I would be moving on to a video interview since I am not local (assume if I was, it would be an office visit). Two weeks later I had video interview with 4 different people on the team all at different levels- 30 minutes each. All were just interested in getting to know me and my personality a little bit better and asked some behavioral questions where I drew examples from past experience. Again, lots of time dedicated for me to ask questions. Less than 24 hours after my video interview I got a call from the initial recruiter saying that they wanted to move forward. They sent me a case study and a set of data and gave me 2 days to prepare an "executive style" presentation over video with the same analyst who I spoke with over the phone initially. When I presented the case, the interviewer was more interested in my thought process than the actual answer I arrived at, and afterwards we discussed how HubSpot would actually tackle a similar case. Received a phone call with the offer from the initial recruiter within an hour or two after my presentation interview. This process was long, and I dedicated a lot of time not only to the interviews, but also to my preparation, however, in the end my patience paid off and I was thrilled to receive an offer.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. We take our intern hiring as seriously, if not more so, than our full time hires. Our interns represent the future of HubSpot, and while your process was long and challenging, it's designed to give both you and us confidence that you'll excel here. Congrats on your offer, and thrilled that you'll be joining us! -Becky
