      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at HubSpot

      Interview

I passed the initial assessment with the get and post take home exercise and moved on to the final interview consisting of 4 interviews. The first one went very well, with questions relating to more advanced topics in javascript. The second interview however is when everything went off the rail, during that interview, it consisted of 2 interviewers. The question is very simple merge sort with minor variation to it. However one of the interviewer (who seems to be an trainee as an interviewer) seems to want to deliberately trick you by misleading you down the wrong path even though it's obvious what he was trying to do. He seemed rather upset if you don't entertain his bad approach and way of interviewing. Also, at the end of that interview, they asked me if I had any questions, I just asked about how the next interview would be like (system design) and one of the interviewer very rudely told me that they will not help me to cheat for the next interview, which is crazy way to respond to asking such an benign question. I think by that point, these 2 interviewers gave me bad marks already and probably told the recruiter not to further continue with my interview seriously, because suddenly after my break, the next interviewer had to cancel and they gave an inexperienced fill in replacement interviewer. Also, the recruiter who said before my interview had started, that there would be about a 15 minute post interview where she would fill me in with more details. But during this post interview, she only said to me, do you have any questions and abruptly ended the call without even giving me any idea as to when to expect a decision (by this point though I knew they wouldn't offer me anything). This call I don't think lasted more than 1 minute. I think this is her way of doing something to keep her promise of the post interview without actually doing anything. This has to be the worst interview process I experienced, very unprofessional especially the second interview. Going into it, I expected a larger company like this to act better. I guess if you fit a certain type of person they are looking for, they might treat you more like a person.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in Sept 2025

      Interview

Same as everybody else. I applied for the New grad / emerging talent FEE role. OA (basically implementing a file system in Javascript, with 4 progressive levels), then 30 min behavioral with recruiter (what do you know about HubSpot and why do you want to work here? Tell me about a time you worked with somebody with a different cultural or technical background? Tell me about a time when you had to give feedback to a peer?), then 2 technical rounds. First round was Javascript fundamentals - memoization, closures, the prototype. I flew through this and nailed it. Second round was DSA - the focus was on a tricky graph question. I honestly wasn't expecting a true LC medium, so I was caught off guard. This round sunk me.
