They asked some high level question about the engineering and technical details. First interview was with hiring manager, High level position details, then 3 people did a interview and ask more technical questions.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at McGraw Hill (Irvine, CA) in Apr 2026
Interview
Total interview process had three rounds total. The technical interview was an hour long coding session with a senior engineer and a software engineer on the team. They were easy to work with.

Question 1
Create an application that fulfills certain requirements.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at McGraw Hill in Feb 2025
Interview
Talk to recruiter, recruiter has a list of tech trivial questions to screen with candidates. Then 1hr tech interview with either a lead or principal engineer, followed up a 2hr tech panel interview with other leads and hiring manager.
There's 1 guy in the panel who was really bad at interviewing people, the company should train their employee on how to conduct the interview. He asked me to solve a java async problem, I gave my solution using a different tool that he would use, then he felt uneasy and tried to find a way to talk down on my solution. He wasted a lot of time nitpicking on that problem instead of moving on. Finally, the other interviewer had to interrupt to move on to another topic. And the arrogant guy laughed at my solution, turned off his camera and left the meeting without saying anything. That was hilariously rude! Iost my mojo after that, but I still tried to answer the rest of their questions till 2hr mark. Then I told recruiter I didn't like the interview. MHE needs to learn how to conduct the interview. I've interviewed 500+ people in my career, got a lot of bad interviews but i never lost my temper like this guy. Terrible and unprofessional!
