This was supposed to be the first technical interview for the position. Typically, those are with the hiring manager, where they try to gauge your knowledge/experience at a higher level. This meeting was not that, however. A man called me, I don't even remember him introducing himself. He sounded very awkward and uncomfortable, and he just started rattling off Java vocabulary questions. It caught me off guard, to have to define these different terms, some of which I haven't had to speak about since I was in school... I have four years experience developing in Java daily, so the fact that I can't give a proper definition to some very infrequently used concepts seems pretty asinine to me. It seems a little silly that if I had just brushed up on my college vocab, I would have easily aced this poor excuse for an interview.
