      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      1 Aug 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Sofia, Sofia (city)
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Progress (Sofia, Sofia (city)) in Jul 2025

      Interview

The take-home assignment was unnecessarily large and vague, with unclear expectations (e.g. "production-ready" not mentioned). Feedback seemed rushed and uninformed (e.g. comments contradicting documentation). No opportunity was provided for a technical discussion after submission. Overall, it felt like the company undervalues candidates' time and effort.

      Question 1

What was a challenging technological problem that you recently solved?

      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Progress (Sofia, Sofia (city))

      Interview

I had a job interview with the hiring manager and 5 team leaders also attended. They asked different types of questions to find out which position I would be best suited for.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Interview questions include the basic terms and things about C# and JavaScript. Many of the questions were about recent projects I've worked on such as the way my team and I have performed different tasks, the difficulties we have encountered and the methods we have used to resolve them. There was also a question of whether I would agree to work for 6 months just to write tests.
