    I worked at Progress full-time

    Pros

    - Small company so theoretically you have better visibility. Cozy office space
    - Some good benefits. Work from home. Work life balance is ok.
    - Can pull off few hours of google search as “research/innovation” and bask in its glory.
    - Haven for process junkies.

    Cons

    - Legacy products to maintain and people who know them have either left or are leaving.
    - Zero value for longevity. Employees are mere resources.
    - Especially in Hyderabad office: Favoritism. Whimsical mid level managers and directors have too much power (and no scrutiny). Closed room meetings. Defunct HR. Employees hardly have any voice.
    - Since Jan ’16, layoffs are now a quarterly ritual.
    - Lack of technical leadership. Developers are ultimate scapegoat. However, if you are a QA, you are probably in a better position.
    - Unclear future direction.

    Advice to Management

    - None for the management. They probably have reasons to do what they are doing.
    - However, that effects employees. So for them: Staying long at Progress can be detrimental to your career. You might be trapped into believing every run of the mill skill you learn is cutting edge. This might not come very handy when you make an exit voluntarily or otherwise.

I worked at Progress full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Relaxed work environment, good for manager level employment and manual testers. Doesn't require much technical depth to work.

    Cons

Not an employee friendly work environment and no work life balance anymore. You can not grow technically or you won't learn anything new. Ancient technology and old style management. Frequent lay-offs.

    Advice to Management

Atleast have a one year roadmap clearly communicated to the employees. Stop experiments. Learn from your mistakes instead blaming earlier management all the time.
