I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Rakuten in Mar 2017
Interview
A first interview by phone with an employee.
Then a test (it took 5 full days).
Than an interview: 2 hours.
It was good, we agreed to plan a new interview for the next week with the whole team.
I receive, surprise!, a rejection email without feedback.
The whole process took more than 2 months.
I have kindly asked about a sincere feedback and.. no answer. Ridiculous!
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Rakuten (San Jose, CA) in Apr 2022
Interview
The process was for 2 long months. I had 6 rounds of interview. I got call from recruiter saying I am selected and she will be sending my offer letter.
After 3 days she calls me and says I will have to attend another interview 7 th round? Worst part was that guy had not joined the company yet that was very disappointing.
Next day they called me and said I was not selected because they need more experience.
So I would never want to apply to Rakuten ever because the company does not value their words.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Rakuten (Tokyo) in Mar 2022
Interview
CV > Interview 1 > Assignment> Interview 2. All are good but the final manager showed red tapes. He asked about my original country and if I can speak Chinese. He mentioned about stuffs which were not listed in the JD.
The process took 9 months. I interviewed at Rakuten (Tokyo) in Jan 2019
Interview
Multiple interviews, very slow process. Had to follow up 5-6 times in order to get a reply from the human resource department. The interviewers changed and had to be treated like a new interview altogether.
