I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Red Hat (Boston, MA) in Dec 2025
Interview
Initial contact was in December. Because of the holiday season, the first interview was scheduled in January 12th. The 1st round went really well. Then we scheduled a 2nd round. After the 2nd round, complete ghosting. 3 weeks later, a short 30m 3rd round. The interviewer was 10 min later for a 30 min interview. He started with "the role you are applying for is filled", and then asked me if I am interested in a different role. It supposed to be a behavioral round, but it turned out to be domain specific technical round (CPU/GPU and distributed computing optimization strategy) about this new role. Nothing was communicated in advance, so I answered as best as I could. After that round, emailed HR about the situation. Got reply saying that "should be" the last round because my initial role was filled and this Hiring manager wants to see if I can "adapt", and it seems the HM was fine with me. Days later, HR asked for a "last last round" because "Director" is involved and need more rounds and they have "strong" candidates with domain specific expertise in this new role. I quitted.
TLDR: ghosting, being late, obscure timeline, moving goal post for last round.
