      Program Manager Interview

      28 Sept 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Chicago, IL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Salesforce (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2015

      Interview

I learned about an open role after a recruiter had contacted me through LinkedIn. I was not actively looking, but decided to learn more about the opportunity after learning more about what Salesforce could offer from a flexibility and benefits standpoint. I also knew I wanted to eventually go remote and my current job couldn't offer that to me down the line so I figured it couldn't hurt to explore my options. My first interview was a standard 30-min phone screening by the recruiter who was friendly, knowledgeable, "kept it real" (esp about salary + bonus), and answered my questions. The next week, I had a phone call with my potential future boss. It was scheduled for 30 minutes and we went over by 15 (always a good sign!). Thereafter, I was asked to come into the office for a one-hr iview with the team. I ended up having to reschedule my iview the morning of due to a crisis at my current job. I was sure I had lost the opportunity - who cancels the morning of their iview?! The recruiter was so understanding and worked closely with my to reschedule the iview a week or two (I don't remember) later. I was shocked at how understanding he was, but very lucky it didn't blow my changes. For the actual iview, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it ended up being a panel of four folks in various locations on a big tv in a conference room with myself and my future boss sitting in a room together. The interview went well - it was more of a Q&A to learn more about the group and dispell any qualms/concerns I had coming into the group. I was expecting to have to present, showcase my knowledge about the company, and/or go through behavioral iview questions - but luckily it was none of that. It was really honest, candid conversation and likely more of a "is this person smart and can they fit culturally into this group?". I really enjoyed everyone I talked to mainly because they were personally, not intimidating, and were really honest about challenges and future goals of the group. Throughout the process, the recruiter stayed closely in touch - answering questions and asking if I had concerns. When I did finally get the offer letter, I had a few days to accept so not a ton of turnaround time, but I spoke with the recruiter a few times about what was potentially holding me back and he was very honest as he had been the entire time. Salesforce was also very understanding that I would need 3 weeks to quit my current role and worked with me on an optimal start date. I'm not sure if this is the standard process for iviews, but I had a great experience and am probably the classic case of 180 since I was orignally never looking for a new job. The entire process took about a month, but it was because I had to reschedule my last iview otherwise I am confident it would have been completed within 1.5-2 weeks. I'm coming on a year, going remote 100% soon (which is what I always wanted), work with smart folks, and have no regrets thus far!

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Salesforce (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2025

      Interview

l got this interview via recruiter. I was very nervous as this was my first interview in several years and I think that was obvious. The interviewers were all very kind and made me feel comfortable despite knowing I had made a bad impression and I would not likely be continuing.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do I want to work at Salesforce? (with the added context that I have worked at an agency previously with Salesforce as a client, they wanted to know what I liked about the company culture I had seen).

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Salesforce in Oct 2024

      Interview

30 minute screening zoom call with hiring manager, went really well shared in-depth about the team, the role, the expectations and the current challenges. Great conversation. 2 more follow up interviews with cross-functional stakeholders who would be counterparts, interviews were fine but they seemed unimpressed. Recruiter got back to me within two days and apologized, said "feedback doesn't match reasoning for not wanting to move forward" They said I would be too structured as a program manager for their org, even though they both asked how I could bring structure to their chaos.
