I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Samsung R&D Institute India - Bangalore (New York, NY) in Apr 2019
Interview
I have just experienced the worst interview ever with Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore. It's surprising that on their way to setup their data science division in Bangalore, they have forsaken all basic courtesies of conducting interviews. Having close to 9 years of experience with data science, I did not expect to be treated the way I was. The interviewer joined in 15 mins late (although, I live in the east coast of US and had agreed to a late night interview to accommodate IST) and set out the rigid format of the interview which I was okay to comply with that is, initial 15mins of introduction + 35-40mins of DS discussion including + remaining 10mins with more questions from my end...😂
However, what was shrprising was when I wasn't amply questioned to determine how well (or not) I had performed in the interview. Also the interviewer kept on agreeing to my solutions (which I did recheck and found to be correct later on), but also asked when would I be able to join.
Then expecting to get a call back from HR for a couple of days I had to email them for a result to the interview. When they didn't even comply with that (that being the lowest ever standard of courtesy) I called the HR to know that my interview process had been stopped.
I still fail to understand why was it that I had been rejected. All in all, I am thoroughly disappointed with Samsung and I now feel that such a dicey work environment would not have fared well for me. I have since been inundated with offers and that hirrid experience is now a thing of the past. Well, all's well that ends well.
After all these discussions, I believe it is not possible to evaluate a candidate with 9years of experience in ds within 40mins...🙂
