      Solutions Architect Interview

      15 Dec 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom in Oct 2011

      Interview

I heard good things about Slalom so I thought I'd give them a try. I was initially screened by two HR types under two separate phone calls. Standard questions were offered up: "Why would you like to move jobs" etc. Was forced by Sr. HR rep to reveal current salary. This pissed me off, but I continued with the process. I met face to face with the manager responsible for my area of specialty. His eye contact skills were poor. Evasive. Has a big plan for his team of software engineers. He gave me an offer that day $10K over what I was currently making. I left skeptical, with the feeling he was looking for a body with sufficient skill to fill a project that had already been sold. Despite the offer, he wanted me to be interviewed by his "most" trusted techical resource. Interview came - a series of technical questions. I had a brain fart and could not think a particular term. However, I did go a layer deeper and explain what I was talking about. This did not seem good enough for him - he was stuck on the "term" not the actual inner workings of the product. Again, another interview that ends with a mixed impression. I had two other technical interviews with future team members. Enjoyed them both, which overcame much of the negative vibe I had been feeling. Shortly after the last interview, I was presented with a formal offer. Others reviewing Slalom have made the comment that there is a bodyshop mentality on the software consulting side. I tend to agree with the assessment.

      Interview

Pre-interview to only talk about initial level of interest, not a formal interview yet. There is a possibility of touch-base in the future for this opportunity when they expand in this specific area.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Boston, MA) in Mar 2022

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter. After the first round of technical interview I was told that my skill set does not align with the requirement. But still they would like to continue the interview process ( a big red flag). I went through 5 rounds of interview and only to be told later that they don't have a matching role at this time. That was really a big waste of time. They were aware that my profile did not match still they scheduled 6 rounds of interview. This was a very bad experience.
