      Data & Analytics Consultant Interview

      21 Nov 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (San Francisco, CA) in Nov 2019

      Interview

The Interview process consists of 5 interviews as was told to me. 1 - General Screening with HR/ Recruiter 2 - Candidate Evaluation Definition Screening(CEDS) with Hiring Manager 3- Technical Interview (Onsite) 4- Behavioral Interview (Onsite) 5- Final Interview (Onsite) I reached out to one of the Directors on Linkedin and he forwarded my profile to the recruiter. Recruiter sent me a Linkedin connection request and asked me when would I be available for an interview on Nov 1, 2019. I mentioned that I would be available anytime. He ultimately scheduled the interview on Nov 7, 2019(I have no idea why he took almost a week to schedule it.) During the interview, he just went through my resume and asked me about my work experience. He mentioned that he found me as a strong candidate for the consultant role and asked me when can he schedule next interview for the CEDS round. Like last time, I told him that I am open for any day and would prefer to get it done asap. He scheduled the interview for Nov 13, 2019 (I can understand the delay considering the Manager's work Schedule). The interview went pretty well and I felt like I nailed it. The manager was friendly and asked about my resume and quizzed me particularly about my favourite project and asked me to explain that to him in detail. I contacted the recruiter after the interview since I wanted to get the manager's contact details to shoot him a Thank You email. During that conversation, I even asked him about the timeline as to when can I hear back about the next round of interviews. He mentioned that the maximum amount of time would be around 24-48 hours. I waited patiently for the next couple of days and even let the weekend pass. I reached out to him on Monday since it had already been 4 days since I gave the interview. Unfortunately, I had no reply to my email. (I've had interviews in the past where recruiters mention that it'll be about 1-2 weeks wait period and I wait patiently for that time but just because he had mentioned that he would get me an answer in 24-48 hours, I emailed him by following up on the same.) Ultimately, he reaches out to me on email after multiple follow ups asking me if I'm available for a quick phone call. During our call, he mentions that the hiring manager thinks that I lack the work experience required for being a Consultant (I have around 4.8 years of past experience as a Data Science Consultant) and asks me to apply again to Slalom after an year or so. The only problem I had was the wait time. We candidates put in a lot of effort to prepare for the interview and invest our time in the same. Isn't it the recruiters responsibility to reject the candidate even before sending the candidate for an interview saying that I lack experience and Isn't it the recruiters responsibility to get back to the candidate in the timeline promised. If you don't have any response from the manager, you can drop an email to the candidate saying that you don't have any response as of now and you'll get back as soon you get a response. I felt like I wasted both my time and energy for this company. Fun Fact - They call themselves the Google/ Facebook of Consulting and they don't sponsor for flight tickets for the candidate if he doesn't stay in the same area. The candidate needs to take care of those expenses on their own. I don't want to take the names of the recruiter and the hiring manager just to maintain their privacy. But, I think they should start respecting the candidates. I wonder how much respect their employees have been getting.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There was nothing technical. It was more of a conversation with both the Recruiter and the hiring manager for the CEDS round.

      Phoenix, AZ
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Slalom (Phoenix, AZ) in Feb 2020

      Interview

The interview process was awesome. I first met with a person from talent acquisition where we talked about Slalom and myself. It was great session to understand, not only if I would be a great candidate for Slalom, but if I would enjoy working at at Slalom and if I would be a great fit within the culture. The next set of Interviews was a panel interview with two technical consultants and a 1:1 with the practice area lead. The interviews itself were very casual, it felt more like a conversation with a group of like minded people just talking about what they are passionate about.
