I first interviewed over the phone and was then invited to travel to their campus (out of state for me) for interview. I was interviewed by a couple different members of the team and an HR Representative and the interviews, I felt, went quite well. I sent my thank you letters and anxiously waited to hear. However after a couple weeks, it seemed that I would not be receiving an offer. I politely followed up requesting an update on my application status to the recruiter and never heard back. I never heard back. The only way I knew the position had been filled is because I know the person they hired for the position. It is incredibly unprofessional and rude to not follow up with candidates who took the time to travel for the interview. It shows a lack of respect for candidates. While I understand that they apparently found someone who was a better fit, was it so much of an inconvenience to send me a follow up email to say the position has been filled or even respond to my email?
