Interview
I recently interviewed for TCS company, on 29th August 2024. I was interviewed for a PRIME(9LPA) role, and here’s a breakdown of my experience. The short-listing for Prime role hiring was done through TCS NQT exam score conducted on 17th July 2024.
Recruitment Process:
The process consists of two rounds:
1. Online Technical Test: I gave this technical test in the month of Jan 2024 in ION Digital Zone. As our college is part of TCS priority colleges, I got the chance to write this exam. The results were announced in February. Finally, I was called for an interview on our campus for PRIME role (9LPA).
2. Interview
Interview Process consists of 3 rounds(TR+MR+MR). All three rounds happend in our college itself on the same day in offline mode.
Due to time constraint, all rounds happend at the same time in single room. There were 3 panel menbers for 3 rounds(TR+MR+MR). It was my first offline interview experience with 3 panel members.

Question 1
The day of TCS interviews itself was an intense experience. They skipped the usual question “Tell me about yourself” that most interviewers start with and went straight into asking what programming languages I use, which are Java and Python.
They asked me to explain every word in a simple “Hello World” program in Java. Then, how to reverse a string without using strrev() function.
Multithreading, deadlock conditions and program implementation in Java were also covered during interview process. They wanted me to explain error handling as well as Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts. They also wanted detailed explanation with code for TCS NQT coding questions I faced.
Database Management Systems (DBMS) was another subject area discussed because it is my favorite one. The questions ranged from normalization, SQL commands (DQL, DML, DCL), TCL (commit rollback difference), DDL statements etc., Oracle version differences till grant-revoke difference.
Also included were three questions based on logic. One of them involved finding a ball with different weight out of eight, another required arranging four balls at equal distances while the last one was about four men crossing a river at night within time limits considering that they have different speeds.
Finally the HR round. They asked me if I was willing to relocate, How would I react if there is no job location in Hyderabad, Whether already placed or not , Why tcs? What are the areas tcs works on? Do you want sell app to TCS?(During college I developed an app named Work Finder),Are you interested in developer role?

The shortlisting process took a lot of time. There was a single round (technical). There was a single interviewer. Asked questions about data analytics, SQL, Data Visualisation, OOPM concepts. Asked questions on python. Also, asked questions on Engineering final year project.

Interview- Asked easy to moderate level question from my projects which basically react,javascript and some easy level questions from SQL,NoSql and MongoDB.
After clearing the TCS NQT (aptitude + 2 coding questions), you will face a 30–60 minute interview likely covering a Technical/Managerial round. Expect questions on your resume projects, OOPS, DSA, and SQL, plus HR questions on relocation and 5-year goals.
