      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Uber (Phoenix, AZ) in Jun 2021

      Interview

Applied via LinkedIn and was quickly contacted by the hiring manager directly. I was asked some technical questions as well as salary expectations. I was under the impression that my compensation expectations for the role were in line with their budget based upon the fact that they not only continued the conversation but sent me a written assessment to complete. I was then contacted by HR to set up 6 additional interviews with everyone from Legal to Claims Analytics to the VP. Each interview was extremely technical with questions about how I would manage adjusters, how to best manage litigated claims, etc. The interview process was intense and everyone I met with indicated that this was a "fast paced environment" (which I'm used to so no big deal). Everything gave the impression that this was a well-paying job given the questions they asked, the rigor of the process and their list of preferred qualifications. When they called to offer the job, they offered $20,000 less than I had indicated I would accept. They then refused to negotiate on compensation at all. I wish them luck. I don't mean to sound arrogant, but I know what I bring to the table and I made more money 5 years ago in a less demanding/senior role. Their benefits package is outstanding and their stock offering is generous but stock doesn't pay my bills. They then offered to meet my compensation expectation if I moved to San Francisco instead of Phoenix. The problem is that the cost of living in San Francisco is so high that they'd have to more than double the money to make that move make financial sense.

      Question 1

How do you work to reach resolution in a litigated matter where you and plaintiff's counsel are very far apart on valuation?
      Answer question
      Negative experience

      Interview

It was unprofessional and was very one sided. It felt like I was being assessed from personality over professional experience. Interviewer set me up for failure. After receiving the feedback, they said I was interrupting them, even though they were the ones asking me the questions and I was simply answering them.....
