      Operations Manager Interview

      28 Jun 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uber in Feb 2015

      Interview

Applied for Operations Manager position through internal reference. - Had to first take an online analytic test of 2 hours. You will need the 2 hours. Test is excel-heavy and easy, but you are short on time. Practice basic excel stuff (mostly pivot tables) before-hand at least, and leave some time at the end for the open-ended questions. - Did first interview with HR over Skype. Interview was informal and easy-going. A lot of fit/background questions but I was also surprised to be asked by the HR a lot of "how would you launch Uber X in location X," "what do you think your main challenge would be as operations manager in this location?"... Be well prepared to go beyond a fit-interview even with HR. Interview lasted around 30-45 mins. - Did second round interview with Operations Manager over Skype. Interview again was informal. Some fit/behavioural questions. I was answering all questions very well and interview seemed more like a chat. Except I got stuck on one question eventually due to some misunderstanding, and the interviewer seemed to suddenly lose his patience because of this question alone and decided to end the interview. In any case the interview had mentioned at the beginning of the interview that they had already filled the role and they were now considering me for another office if I was interested.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at Uber (Warsaw, Masovia)

Five to seven rounds of interviews, tests and presentations just to get a “no, thank you” at the end without much of a feedback. Acceptable for regular recruitment but not after weeks dedicated to the process.

      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I interviewed at Uber (Chicago, IL)

      Interview

Pretty easy at early stages - just need to know about supply and demand basics. Analytics test is harder, but manageable if you know Excel well. They are definitely interested in your problem solving abilities and ability to "get things done" with minimal supervision.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How do you balance competing priorities?

      Interview

Easy and good with few layers of tech question. Overall good thing. They will ask about data and logical question. So overall process of program is required. 3 total rounds
