      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Unilever (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2019

      Interview

Application, scored assessments, digital interview, then discovery day. Discovery day was well, okay. Extremely gynocentric atmosphere so if you're a woman you basically already seized the day, you can just coast it. The questions I received weren't difficult at all which bothered me a bit as none of it really covered my overall competency of the company's operations and my business acumen; keep in mind this if for a Finance internship so that's how I prepped. When a guy was speaking and drawing analytical responses it was quiet, when a girl was talking they immediately started dashing off key word checks even if the points they made were redundant. So just know your environment, once you get a tour of the office, check the demographic ratio. It will tell you how you should act. As a man speak plainly, speak often and don't give off a hyper-ambitious vibe to yourself. In summary; act like a soy boy if you can. The top 2 other candidates (males) I personally noted based on; acumen, polish, competence, finance knowledge and analytical ability got passed over in a pool of candidates in which the rest didn't even know how to solve a business case. This might come off as shocking to some. Don't get analytical as you would in any other finance interview. Keep answers plain, simple and use key words. They evaluate you on a pre-set grid. This means key words, key words, key words. Mention progressive, USLP, values, impact.. etc. To be honest, you can weasel through this one with little insight to any of its operations if you follow my instructions and act accordingly. Oh and mention Ben and Jerry's as your favorite product to get some brownie points and fit the company "vibe".

One round online interview. Theoretical and scenario-based ML questions were asked. The interviewer was very friendly and comfortable. Projects were also asked to explain. Nice experience. There was no coding round.
