I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart (Scarborough, ON) in May 2016
Interview
Very straight forward, its about a 3 step process.
1) call interview - they ask you simple questions trying to figure out who you are and if you are a candidate for the next step (why walmart, tell us about yourself, etc)
2) group interview - should your call interview become a success, you are then called in to be interviewed among 4-10 associates. They give you a mini summary about the company and what they do, then proceed to "speed dating" 4 managers going round and round asking you 1 question then moves on to the next maybe 2 if they deem it necessary. Finally a last conclusion from them to see who really is interested (they ask does anyone know the history of walmart or how many stores we have, etc ) - DO YOUR HOMEWORK RESEARCH THE COMPANY
3) they call you in for paper work if they chose to proceed with you as an associate
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
if you are a cashier, there is a woman with a crying baby, an old person, and some impatient guy with a lot of stuff in his cart, who do you serve first?
applied online. phone call from manager who asks few questions on the phone then invites to irl interview then ask few more questions then phone call few days later to offer job.
Automated video interview, answer questions with a prompt. The questions are all basic questions that would typically be asked in a hiring recruiter screen. Didn’t seem very difficult and was very straight forward to complete.
It was pretty standard for the industry. I was asked about my prior experience, current goals, and opportunity for upward mobility at the specific store and at the broader organization.
