WFL CNC Machine Operator / Setter (Millturn)
Overview:
The WFL CNC Operator / Setter is responsible for setting, operating, and monitoring WFL Millturn machines for precision machining of heavy and critical components such as shafts, carriers, housings, and transmission parts. The role ensures quality, productivity, and adherence to safety standards.
1. Key Responsibilities:
A. Machine Setup & Operation
- Perform complete machine setup for new jobs (fixtures, tools, offsets).
- Load and unload components using crane/handling equipment.
- Set work offsets, tool offsets, and verify program parameters.
- Operate WFL Millturn machine for turning, milling, drilling, boring operations.
- Conduct trial runs and prove-out of new programs in coordination with programmer.
B. Process Control
- Monitor machining parameters (RPM, feed, coolant flow).
- Ensure dimensional accuracy as per drawing.
- Perform in-process inspection using micrometer, bore gauge, vernier, dial gauge.
- Maintain cycle time as per production plan.
C. Quality & Documentation
- Read and interpret engineering drawings & GD&T.
- Record inspection data in job card / ERP system.
- Identify and report process deviations immediately.
- Support CMM inspection coordination if required.
D. Tooling & Maintenance
- Change tools as per tool life monitoring system.
- Perform minor troubleshooting and basic machine maintenance.
- Ensure proper tool clamping and fixture alignment.
- Maintain 5S and workplace discipline.
E. Safety & Compliance
- Follow safety procedures while handling heavy components.
- Ensure safe crane and lifting practices.
- Use PPE as per company standards.
2. Required Skills & QualificationsEducation
- Diploma / ITI in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
3. Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in CNC Turning / Millturn machines.
- Experience in WFL, DMG MORI, or similar high-end machines preferred.
- Experience in heavy component machining is an advantage.
4. Technical Skills
- Knowledge of Fanuc / Siemens control systems.
- Understanding of multi-axis machining (B-axis, Y-axis).
- Ability to read complex technical drawings.
- Basic knowledge of GD&T.
- Tool selection knowledge for alloy steel / EN grades.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
