Pros

The younger members of staff were lovely and as we were all in the same boat. The office is located close to the train station.

Cons

The office is small, stuffy, smelly and located above a fish and chip shop (the toilets are in the kitchen). The senior partners are rude and condescending. There's a constant power struggle and bickering, all of them will tell you to do a job differently and will be unkind when you can't do one job three ways. One partner will give you permission to do something, forget and then berate you with the other senior members of staff for doing something without authority. Management are extremely against employees being friends with each other. They will also throw you under the bus if it means saving face in front of the other senior staff. There's a strange practice of alienating one member of staff at a time and picking on them and using them as the scapegoat until they leave and the next person is selected. You will be overworked, micromanaged, patronised and criticised for everything you do. 'Marketing' almost totally means cold calling. You have to meet a cold calling quota. Every single process is outdated. A process that can be done efficiently in minutes might take you an hour because you have to log it in three different ways, as when a new method is added, the old ones are kept as well. This company and its senior management have 0 credibility or integrity. You get paid minimum wage, salary rarely increases but you're constantly being given more work.

Pros

It taught me I could get through anything.

Cons

Similar to what’s been mentioned previously, the work is unnecessarily high pressured, monotonous, mostly cold calling and admin, the office is gross, the salary is awful, progression doesn’t exist, you’re expected to work through lunch and after contract hours. All of the above make for a bad placement but the behaviour of the MDs is what made it the worst year of my life. Every tiny mistake would be scrutinised, not so you could be corrected but so you could be bullied about it. Cherith and Peter take pleasure in being unkind to their employees, they even deliberately schedule meetings during lunch for no reason other than to make staff miserable. Being good at your job doesn’t mean you’ll be safe from them. They will separate you from your colleagues, pick apart everything you do, criticise you and find other things that are going on in the business that might be a totally different department and still find a way to blame you for anything going wrong with it.

Pros

None whatsoever, it’s run by two senile old people!

Cons

I have undoubtedly had the worst experience at chart Simmons that has not only included poor treatment of employees, but also racism, prejudice, and other forms of discrimination. While I was a client services manager, I received several complaints from clients about the behavior of the married couple running the company. The office is extremely stuffy and is a above a fish and chips shop and does not have access for people with disabilities. They work you to the ground, do not adequately pay you and subject you to extremely bad behavior. It is so ironic that this is a leadership and management training company with objectively the worst management in the world. The organization promotes really medieval management and marketing practices rooted in cold calling and micromanaging. After having worked at Cherith Simmons, I needed to seek professional counseling to overcome the trauma that I experienced during my time at the company. It is also so narcissistic that the senile old lady named Cherith has named the company after herself - a classic thing a narcissist would do! It was also so awkward that the two people running the company were married to each other, and would constantly fight with each other in front of everybody.
