I have been working at Diamond Resorts full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The most pure form of sales. Hard marketing but it builds character.

    Cons

It's a steep hill to climb until you're good unless you're a natural at it. Lots of negative connotations about timeshare but good thing is, it's not timeshare.

    Advice to Management

Promote OPCs more. Seems as though other departments have a lot of upwards growth besides the Street OPC.

I worked at Diamond Resorts full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you’re a top performer and hard worker you will open up opportunities for yourself to learn about various parts of the business and how they come together which lets you get your feet wet with business operations, administration and leadership strategies. Great benefits and you will receive vacation time every year. Great leaders in pockets but be weary of the egos and jockey club who will derail your potential... if you let them. Many talented individuals from various fields are working alongside you and there’s an incredible talent force there if you look around and tap into them. Compensation is ok but you need to know your worth. So much room for growth and potential for anyone in the vacation ownership industry who wants to be a part of an innovative company.

    Cons

If you are a top performer management will see that but will find a way to not compensate you for your extra efforts and overwork you with empty promises to make a change. Costs are not the only factor to make a company successful, that measure does need to be changed, but so too does leadership, culture, infrastructure and the corporate footprint need to be reviewed consistently to ensure team members have the... tools and ability to succeed. Hasty emotional decision making based on limited information that changes from week to week, which causes turmoil, confusion, and resentment without a clear and concise direction. Interdepartmental communication is weak and decisions are often made in silos.

    Advice to Management

Mental health of your employees is so important and often overlooked. Culture does not change through emails and memos. At the end of the day philosophical ideas of what to change are all wonderful but the work still needs to get done today and the answer you are looking for is probably already right under your nose but take the time to do lower level meetings with team members to connect and gain clear and true... understanding with their job roles and responsibilities; not just what your direct report feeds you information with. Help build a culture of trust and integrity, after all it all starts at the top.
