Probation often failed due to a “lack of self-directed training,” which is unrealistic without support. Toxic, competitive culture that negatively impacts mental health and personal relationships. No regular one-to-ones, catch-ups, or review meetings. High staff turnover and understaffing; management is aware but does not address retention issues. Unrealistic expectations due to inexperienced management (often recent graduates without practical store experience). Inconsistent leadership and favouritism contribute to a demoralising environment.
