Pros

work/life balance was pretty okay...there was some flexibility there with hours

Cons

It is an environment set up with multiple abuses across the board. Unrealistic and outrageous expectations of super-speed cashiers. The "brass" keeps its' foot on your neck and an ever watchful eye to ensure scanning at excessive speeds that encourages errors and discourages any memory retention. No real "training"...you are thrown to the wolves and expected to pick it up or be dropped (thus begins the "warnings"). No positive reinforcement...they will ONLY point out what you do wrong & harp on that if it hasn't been changed by next shift. The encouragement to ask any question is false because they then label you as "unsure" "unconfident" and "non-motivated". All of this encourages low morale and high employee turnaround. There's much favoritism there and alot of physical manual labor.

Pros

+ industry leading wages Associates - $12/hr, Shift Mgr - $16/hr, SMT - $23/hr, Store Manager - $75,000+/yr + great work environment + excellent training + health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k + 40-50 hr/wk with paid overtime Very fast paced so work hours fly by. I loved working at Aldi. The pay was great! Benefits great! Was training to be a store manager so a lot was expected of me but I was totally up for it. My store manager loved my work, associates loved my fairness, customers loved me.

Cons

+ work/life balance + walked 28,000 steps/day!!! Never thought I would be fired for clocking in only minutes late!!
