Pros

If you want a career growth or you need to prove to yourself and peers that you are good at what you do, this is the place to be. Amazon will give you as much scope as you want for that growth. Being ambitious is encouraged and rewarded as long as you deliver results. At my previous company there was a lot of politics and I was stuck as a PgM1 despite delivering Sr level PgM work. I came to Amazon and while I was under-leveled I was able to go from PgM II to a PgMIII in less than a year. I didn't change anything about who I was as a Pgm or what I did as a PgM, I was just fairly recognize for my work at Amazon.

Cons

Work Life Balance. If you want that growth just know that it will come at a steep price of your work life balance. Except to work at least 50 hours a week minimum and upwards of 70 hours a week during certain period. Amazon is very frugal meaning they expect a lot out of one person that could easily be a two person role. Its not the place where you are going to have kids and be able to know them and watch them grow up and be an involved parents. I'd recommend Amazon to someone who doesn't have kids or someone with kids with teenagers. This is not an environment that's friendly to people with young children that need their attention. Compensation: For the amount of work that you do at Amazon, the money is not worth it Benefits: You pay for some of your benefits so take that into account when you think about your total comp. Its not much but if you are coming from somewhere where they provide free healthcare, it's something you should factor

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
