Pros

great pay, great processes in the last mile side. However life is horrible in the non tech related and expansion related roles.

Cons

The team does not have a spine to stand up to leadership(again this might be very specific to my case and team). A lot of the problem solving is by throwing people at the problem instead of redefining the process. So Amazon had setup a small team couple of years ago for launching new delivery stations across Europe and there were a lot of manual processes around building business cases, getting the things on ground rolled out etc. However AMZ is doing massive ramp up in EU(this is not confidential and you can figure out from the number of job posts in the region) and thus since the work has increased 10x, they are hiring 10x people for the same boring and mundane work which the then employees(so called team leads now) are working on. The team leads are young folks with zero idea about leadership and probably seeing power/authority for the first time. I wish the so long leads had spent some time in redefining the processes during their younger days in the organisation before going on a hiring spree. My colleagues are overly stressed(the pay is not that great for the stress), Amazon is a cult like environment. Everyone throws jargons around leadership principles and to be honest every situation can be retrofitted into any of these leadership principles. It is a very very top down culture which means the pressure trickles down from the top and gets harsher as it comes down. Amazon feels proud of its culture but it is a culture producing great workers but not loyal and innovative employees. I am already interviewing with organisations and will get out even before my stocks vest.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
