Pros
My team at AWS is very focused on results, expectations for quick ramp-up and contributions are high. Can lead to crunch time and overwork but also gives a lot of opportunities to improve as an engineer. The quality of product is generally high and there are a lot of smart, hardworking people to learn from. Salaries are competitive.
Cons
PIP and stack ranking are demoralizing and hurt camaraderie. Company culture is a little impersonal and cold, though this could just be a result of remote work. The operational burden can be high for SDEs, depending on the team.
