Pros

Impact at Scale: You get to work on massive, complex problems that affect millions of customers. Fast Growth: If you’re proactive, you can learn and move up quickly, especially early in your career and in operations. Ownership Mentality: Amazon empowers individuals to take charge and drive change—your ideas can turn into real-world improvements fast. High Bar for Talent: You work with incredibly smart and driven people, which can push you to grow.

Cons

Toxic Politics: In recent years, internal politics and favoritism have gotten worse who you know often matters more than what you do. Unethical Performance Management: Stack ranking and opaque promo processes lead to fear-based culture and talent loss. Burnout Culture: Long hours, unrealistic expectations, and “frugality” often translate to poor work-life balance. Lack of Psychological Safety: Speaking up can hurt your career; failure is not always treated as a learning opportunity. Leadership Principles Used Selectively: They sound great but are often weaponized depending on who’s using them.

Pros

Really smart people, a lot of opportunity for growth, always encouraged to be innovative, think big, and create something new. Competitive salary and benefits with other major tech companies. 100% self motivating work environment. No dress code and 4 legged friends are welcome.

Cons

You have to be self motivated. NO ONE will hold your hand and tell you that you're doing a great job. If you need constant affirmations from management, this company isn't for you.
