      Great company, going in a wrong direction - Senior Scientist Amgen Employee Review

      Pros

      Direct impact on patient health and safety, opportunities to learn.

      Cons

      1) recent focus on hiring recent graduate has led to exodus of experienced people who had a hard time battling the impossible to earn promotion. 2) extreme nepotism. There are VPs who go door to door to low level managers, pressuring them to hire their favorites. 3) no plan for talent retention, leading to loss of experienced and skilled worker. It is very likely than Amgen soon faces a major safety disaster due to lack of experienced staff.

      Amazing company with great culture! All people are nice and willing to share their knowledge with you!

      Networking has a lot of weight here, can be a bit overwhelming if you are introvert

      Pros

      Work from home flexibility and the summer and winter shutdown periods are a nice benefit. Good health insurance.

      Cons

      Management style can be controlling and micromanaging with expectations that shift without clear communication. Employees are held to high standards but not always given the support or clarity needed to meet them. Performance concerns are documented quickly without full context being considered. Culture does not match the company’s public image.
