Pros

Great pay, can sometimes be fun, and can be pretty rewarding. If your about the money, this is the job for you.

Cons

There is lots to learn and can be overwhelming. Most people are good to work with, however some older, more experienced employees can make your life hell. This job is not for everyone. Extremely high turnover rate. Classroom portion is not enough however, the 7 weeks in Winnipeg is just to get your feet wet. You have to be willing to learn, and study on your own time even when you're a qualified conductor if you want to keep your job.

Pros

Pays decently well for first job out of college. My manager and team are very reasonable with expectations placed on new hires. Working after office hours (past 4:30pm) is extremely rare and only expected in emergencies.

Cons

Very slow and/or limited job growth potential. Promotions into middle management are almost purely based on reputation with middle managers who are largely people with previous field experience. This is very disadvantageous to direct-from-college hires like myself and even my current manager.
