Pros

1) The values DWF has (Always aim higher, Be better together, Keep all promises, Disrupt to progress, Attend to details permeate everything that the firm does. 2) DWF's CSR programme includes a programme called 5 Star Futures. Fee earners have the opportunity to work with Year 10 age children and deliver workshops on business skills such as communication or professionalism. The programme encourages these young people to develop their skills and think about their future careers and gives them the skills and the confidence to do so. You see a range of fee earners that take part from Partner to Paralegal level. DWF also have active CSR committees and our own DWF foundation that we raise money for. As part of the CSR Committee, we get to put forward grants that are applied to from local charities and put forward our recommendations. It has been great to see that some of our suggestions for grants have been approved by the DWF trustees. This makes you feel as though you can really make a difference to local communities. 3) The culture is very inclusive and the firm as a whole is a friendly place to be. 4) The Training Contract at DWF means that you have the opportunity experience a range of areas of law but you also get good levels of responsibility as a Trainee and are encouraged to take this on. In particular, in some of the smaller teams there is scope to get even higher levels of responsibilities and levels of client contact. 5) The Trainees at DWF have the opportunity to get involved with the Sectors of the firm. This means that you have a unique opportunity to learn about a Sector of your choice and get as involved as you can in this area. This has been a chance to gain a better understanding of and read updates of Sectors I have always been interested in. 6) As someone from a low income background, I am passionate about social mobility. DWF definitely look at you as a person, not just on your results alone. DWF are interested in finding out about your own personal journey into law and I really felt this at each stage of my interviews.

Cons

Finding out seat choices earlier would be helpful but is not a criticism and I appreciate it is subject to many factors.
