It's only okay - Gift Shop Attendant Hilton Employee Review

Pros

Team member travel program is decent (as long as what you are looking for is available), pay is pretty good; as a gift shop attendant I started at $9.00/hr and now I make almost $10/hr. Friendly managers.

Cons

Weekend scheduling (at least in my department) is a joke. Only one person working the gift shop for the whole day on any given Saturday or Sunday. Makes for a super long, boring, and challenging shift if it is a busy day. Also, have tried numerous times to advance and have been passed over for someone less qualified. I'm at the point of giving up any hope of starting a decent career with this company.

Pros

Great staff and lowermanagement. Last general manager was unfriendly and not very helpful.

Cons

I was supposed to get long tenure status for lifetime friends of family with my veteran status. Worked at Hilton 9+ years. Supposed to get 1 year for my veteran status (according to the handbook at that time) which would make 10 years. HR supposedly turned in application in August 2024. I even followed up and was told they were working it. It's been almost 2 years and haven't heard anything yet. Very disappointed and dissatisfied. Guess I won't be staying at Hilton Hotels.
