Fantastic as a franchise, horrible as a corporate store. - Receiving/Replenishment Coworker IKEA Employee Review

Pros

I stay because of the great benefits and my great coworkers.

Cons

It is such a policy and rule driven work environment, managers don't acknowledge the human integrity of the coworkers anymore. You can be the absolute best worker in every way, but if there is an accidental/unintentional human error, you're written up and treated like a criminal. They never acknowledge their own errors, but rather spin it to make coworkers feel they somehow were responsible. There are so many hard working people that should be celebrated. Instead they're worked even harder and feel beat down. As a franchise, coworkers never left. Now, there are continual job openings. Most new hires are gone within a year. It's unfortunate that IKEA doesn't value the most important assets of the company. They have great products but they don't exactly sell themselves.

Pros

I have a very empathetic and flexible manager. Although I do meet the requirement to be in office three days a week many others do not and don’t seem to suffer for it. My work can be challenging at times, but due to the slow pace of most things here I rarely feel overwhelmed.

Cons

This is, without equivocation, the most sclerotic organization I have ever been a part of. The management structure and reporting lines are inscrutable and even after 3 years I barely understand how my team fits into the larger picture. My job is a data role, and although getting access to data has improved somewhat, it is still one of my biggest blockers.
