Pros

- Always a challenge and something interesting to work on. - Continual availability of new responsibilities to take on and grow into. - Work that's so interesting and varied that I have never want to leave to work elsewhere. - Great compensation and benefits. Great rewards, recognition and acknowledgement for excellent performance and doing outstanding work. Very motivating! - Great people, with a pretty flat organizational structure, redirect by peers regardless of level, and not a single Prima Donna. No naysayers or downtalkers polluting the culture. - Great collaborative atmosphere and lots of help available as you learn and grow. - Well managed, smoothly running, efficient processes on engineering teams create the right amount of pressure, with never a dull moment. - Ample resources and opportunities to learn and grow. - With experience, you'll get increased access to executives and leaders to share ideas - really fun "hack weeks" and opportunities to invent and innovate. - very good work life balance. No questions asked personal days. PTO as you need it (merit-influenced) without having to accrue days, no limit if you responsibly get your work done ahead of time and arrange for backup support while you're away. - offices around the world, and opportunities to travel to amazing places for collaboration with teams abroad.

Cons

- no good mass transit options to the San Mateo office location. Most people drive, some bike. - sometimes you must work really early or really late hours due to meetings with international teams. But you can shift your work time around to accommodate. - not a lot of on campus amenities. Not a lot of catered food. You bring your own food usually, and take care of personal business at home. It's not google. But you're not pressured to "live at work"

Pros

Every group/division can be different in how they treat their employees, but I'd say overall there is very good atmosphere of trust and fairness. There is a strong focus on education, and they reimburse for outside classes taken (Up to 5k/year I think). Benefits are good, and I'd say quite competitive in the market. Good 401K matching (they'll contribute a max of 3% of your 6% or greater). Free drinks in the breakroom. Flexibility to work from home at times. (If you live 50+ miles away from an office you can work full-time from home...policy).

Cons

They don't try to make the workplace anything special (maybe a pool table and arcade game are cliche or gimmicky?). In the 10 years I've worked there, they've given 2 measly %1 cost of living raises (this is the same with most everyone I've spoken to, some don't get any raises). You will not get a substantial raise ever, unless you leave then get rehired on (they will not match offers, better to leave). New employees that you train will make 10 - 20K more than you several years after you hire on (not just me, they do this to all tenured employees). They will give these untrained, less experienced people higher titles (again this is done to everyone not just me). You learn pretty quickly that you're dispensable. The company has billions in cash and they don't re-invest in their employees, just in acquiring new companies and hiring new people that know nothing that you get to train.
