Pros
Senior sales reps are extremely professional and capable people. You can get far if you spend time building an internal network of go-to people for help. Obviously brand recognition is not an issue so getting high level customer meetings is far easier than a small company. You can earn very large paychecks at Oracle and they payout quickly. At Oracle you run your territory like it is your own business, but make no mistake that you are accountable to leadership to perform and communicate accurate forecasts. Sales operations is generally outstanding from the standpoint that they are willing to help you through the "process" to get things done. Overall benefits are better than other companies with numerous healthcare plans and generous company contribution. 401k matching is outstanding. Given this is such a large and performance oriented company it takes a special breed of sales professionals who have total commitment to succeeding. Bottom line is I really liked working at Oracle and I would do so again when the right opportunity comes up.
Cons
Oracle is a very process oriented company to such an extent that it is inordinately challenging to get approvals and deals closed. Customers absolutely hate negotiating and contracting with Oracle, but if they have a good rep who shepherds them through the process, they will "tolerate" it. Oracle is an extraordinarily difficult company to work for if you are new to sales, or a very junior rep. If you can hang on you will be rewarded handsomely. Like any big company there are politics, but if you can manage that environment professionally, then you will succeed.
