Pros
If you love animals, it’s a great place to be around them. Most stores are super flexible about working around your College class schedule or another job schedule. Great place if you want a part-time job. Many different departments to choice from to work in as well. Usually in store management team is good.
Cons
If you love animals, it’s also a hard place to work. Things get sick, some die. Not necessarily from abuse or lack of care. They usually come into the store sick from the suppliers, and naturally some things get sick in the store. It’s hard to see something you cared for everyday so become ill and pass. You get attached. You can get some pretty difficult customers. Since the buy out, everything has changed. It isn’t about the animals as much anymore, it’s about the sales metrics. Understandable because it is a business, got to make money. However, there are over 100 animals in that building that fully depend on the associates. They don’t have a choice and can’t take care of themselves, and there isn’t enough care by upper management or corporate put into that.
