Pros

Workday is a financially stable company with very good benefits, unlimited vacation, 10-year sabbatical, 401k, etc.

Cons

Workday was built on six core values—Employees, Customer Service, Integrity, Fun, Innovation, and Profitability—set by founders Dave Duffield and Aneel Bhusri. Carl Eschenbach has obliterated 4 of them after laying off 1750 long-time employees. Mostly level 5 high-paid, long-term employees were targeted. Workday once called its employees its greatest asset, but this changed under Carl’s leadership. But Carl has chosen offshore Costa Rican employees at lower pay rates for the future of the company and focus on share price. Things like Brainstorms, Community changes, and staff reductions that were designed to improve customer satisfaction have been eliminated. Integrity, employees, customer service, and fun are gone. There is no amount of coffee mugs, shirts, or branded jackets that can undo the damage. I would ONLY work at Workday to gain experience and resume clout, but I would constantly have one foot out the door. If 2, 3, and 4-digit employees can be laid off with decades worth of tribal knowledge, employee number 30,003 has no job security.

Pros

Great people, benefits, culture, and pay. Lots of "workmates" with long tenures (10+ years). I truly wanted to retire from Workday!

Cons

Leadership changes freaked a lot of people out. Things felt unstable within the org for the last year (2025). The culture shifted from one that focused on employee growth to adopt all AI at all costs, and do it yesterday! It was extremely stressful to learn so much, so quickly, and create your own use cases and custom workflows - then to ultimately be laid off despite significant contributions.
