Pros

This team maintains a positive work environment, Zillow Group is a fun company to be a part of with great benefits and a lot of fun perks, i.e. food, swag, events and more!

Cons

The New Construction team is constantly changing whether that be territories, compensation plans or commission structure. The role is overall constantly evolving, from inside sales, to outside sales, to travel out of state once a month, to travel out of state 40% of the time. You never really know what to expect and it is important to be okay with your role changing all of the time in all aspects of the business. Other than out of state travel, the team does provide a strong work/life balance.

Thank you for your feedback on Zillow and the New Construction Team. I’m glad you liked the positive work environment, and found it to be fun with a lot of benefits, perks, and more. I’m also happy that you experienced the good work/life balance which we take seriously. It is true there has been a lot of changes to the business, and I can understand that it can be challenging (or at least not great) to be at the center of that change. We’re always going to be changing (probably the one thing that won’t change), but we can always be better at how we manage and communicate the evolutions. We’ll take your feedback as a vote to do better in this area. In the meantime, if you have any more specific feedback, feel free to reach out to me at any time at tonys@zillowgroup.com. -Tony Small, Group Vice President, Sales and Operations

Pros

Very collaborative team, encouraging team members and managers. Great experience overall.

Cons

Because most people work remote, sometimes it can be hard to meet immediately to chat.

Pros

You can make good money here.

Cons

In sales, job can change often. For example: I was making good money and excelling because I am a relationship Sales person. Then they changed it to where you get the sale, and instead of being able to grow that account via that relationship you just broke into, you have to pass it to an account manager and go back to cold/robo calling. You "book" of business you recive to prospect from is a lottery. I received a book of prospects/accounts that most of the were low income, or senior living properties. They don't have a budget and have a line of renter on a waitlist. No way to convince them to spend money on advertising but you still have the same quota.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed perspective. We understand that frequent changes to roles, account ownership and business priorities can have a real impact on relationship-building and the day-to-day experience in sales. We’re glad to hear compensation was a positive part of your time at Zillow, and we appreciate you being candid about where the model and structure felt frustrating. Feedback like yours helps us better understand how these changes are experienced across teams as the business evolves.
