25% positive business outlook
Pros
Fully remote is an option; training available for entry level medical writer
Cons
Senior management doesn't understand medical communications and is letting that aspect of the business slip while focusing on acquisitions; salaries are based on arbitrary job titles rather than what the individual brings to the company, annual raises are well below cost of living increases, the company emphasis is on culture rather than excellence of the work product; senior medical writer/scientific director has no path for advancement
Pros
Flexible/unlimited PTO is the only pro.
Cons
Just about everybody I know here is being paid below market, but a substantial margin. Salary increases for inflation are behind/don't meet the cost. Those as well as performance increases have been pushed out numerous times. These have caused an exodus of some of our best talent. CEO search has also been ongoing for over a year. The process for performance review/rewards is a tediously documented process of review, by parties uninvolved with your work to gain little benefit/motivation. Teams are also very understaffed with no help on the way. Many are overallocated to multiple projects, causing strain on people/project timelines. Realizing after almost 6 years, career growth is a joke here.
Pros
Stable company Remote setup Decent work life balance but depends on team
Cons
Limited career advancement options Company in perennial restructuring Non existent salary increases
Pros
The quality of the work done is good and respected by the clients; the benefits are decent, with a reasonable number of days of PTO
Cons
Company growth emphasizes acquisition of more types of business rather than improved quality; workloads are very heavy requiring more than 40 hours/week to complete; the offered flexible working hours aren't available in practice for many teams; the annual raises in salary given each year are less than cost of living increases; IT/software and editorial support for medical writers is below industry standards
Pros
Flexible working framework is great (you’re going to work a lot in this line of work regardless of where you go), remote work, more of a work-life balance compared to other companies, and they encourage you to grow in your career rather than keeping you stuck in one spot. The company has recently undergone a project to establish company values and seems to be responding very well to that. Proud to be an envisionary.
Cons
The salary is low compared to others on the market, they say to reach out to employee solutions for concerns but really they should understand that other companies are simply going to offer us more and they risk losing current employees that are not confrontational. Treat your employees good and give them what they’re worth without them needing to ask you, that’s how you keep loyal employees. The share scheme is nice but confusing at first. Benefits are expensive and get more expensive as your salary increases. Not many cons other than salary.
Pros
New CEO is a huge improvement
Cons
Salary increases don't keep up with cost of living increases
Pros
Flexible working, "unlimited" PTO, and there are some fantastic people on the delivery teams.
Cons
Chronically under resourced (and has been for some time). Ongoing recoverability issues. Salaries not increased in line with cost of living. Promotions, bonuses and salary increases suspended until further notice.
Pros
Good availability of software, excellent IT support. Nice and bright people at coworker level.
Cons
People with years of experience suddenly disappear. People are forced out with no regard to good performance appraisals or past contributions to the company. Management is totally absorbed in their own self worth. I did not realize how underpaid I was until I looked at the world beyond Envision. Being forced out turned out to be a good thing. I did not realize what a bad reputation Envision has for working people to death and then encouraging them to leave with no salary increase or job growth.
Pros
Friendly, collegial environment. Very progressive thinking company. Very selective hiring -- coworkers are bright, creative and professionally competent. Good benefits.
Cons
Salary increases have been mediocre, but this may have been out of the current management's control -- we were owned by UBC, Medco, and Express Scripts. Last year the company was bought by a group of investors, who were hand picked by company's very capable managers.
