Empty promises

Pros

PTO accrual is okay, about 4.5 hours per pay period. Medical claims analysts make average pay for the work they do. Management is okay.

Cons

Repeatedly promised pay raise and promotion once a training class was available, but the start date for this was pushed back over and over. They eventually offered the promotion but without the pay raise, blaming the rest of the company for underperforming, and on a major client for not giving them the business they kept expecting. Things got so rough that one day our entire floor was brought into a surprise meeting and assured by our HR rep with no preamble that we shouldn't worry, our jobs were safe for now! We didn't know they were in danger to begin with. My supervisor and her manager both told me different things when it came to expectations and rewards. Management always seemed like it didn't communicate well with each other. Lots of tension between MCA team and QA department. Created something of a hostile work environment after a while. Management stopped celebrating birthdays after a while-- now every office birthday is celebrated with a potluck, no cake. Equian is either doing tremendously well or is on the verge of collapse, depending on the time of day you ask a manager. If you're okay with working a lot and not getting a raise out of it, this place is okay.

Thanks for your feedback! Equian prides itself as a company that offers competitive wages and benefits. So, we are happy that your comments highlight that we are headed in the right direction! We are also always looking for better ways to reward and recognize our employees, and last year our Golden office did move away from monthly birthday sheet cakes to having events that included afternoon park outings, chili cook-offs, jersey Fridays, a catered holiday brunch, costume and office decorating contests with prizes, and much more. So, while we take all feedback seriously, we hope that as our team grows, so do our rewards. We like to think we’ve taken the “sheet cake” to a higher level, and we are loving it, because we love our team! Please feel free to contact HR if you have any other feedback or suggestions !

Thank you for your feedback and for being a valued employee! Employee health is vey important to us at Equian and has been linked to productivity at work. Your leadership has an incentive to create a work environment that promotes employee well-being. Start by having an open conversation with your supervisor. The purpose of this isn't to lay out a list of complaints, but rather to come up with an effective plan for managing the stressor you've identified, so you can perform at your best on the job. Again, thank you for your feedback it was greatly appreciated!

Pros

Work from home opportunities. Great 401k. PTO, maternity/paternity leave.

Cons

You will be expected to pull a workload like you are a robot or working a very fast assembly line. Expect 1200 or more files and you will always have 500 plus of those showing late. So many people have either quit or have been let go, leaving those behind to have daily files divied out in excessive amounts and forced to work mandatory overtime. You can't actually catch up because when you get close, they will dump 100's of dead files in your backlog and require even more overtime. They will base your goals on the surprise, dead backlogs of those who have left. Expect to be micro managed with certain supervisors and the next level of management. Do not plan on advancement unless you are in the who you know crowd. Those folks get positions that are never even posted. They talk a great talk about opportunities here but there are very few to be had in the Louisville office. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. There are other companies in the area doing the same with much better pay and Similiar benefits.

Pros

Not any pros with this company

Cons

Set up for failure with rhe work load. When you start you are already starting wstarting with someone else's backlog log. Then you are harassed every day about how many you have in your backlog. So at the beginning you're still learning and you're not as as quick so after you've been there for a few months your backlog is crazy. Then you start to get punished because you have so many You're paid for how many claims you get paid but since you're billing out such old claims from the previous person's backlog people don't want to pay. It's a lose lose Horrible place to work toxic working environment managers talk to you like you're nothing especially the male managers
