Great Company with diversity

Pros

IMI is a great company to work for. They have diversity in management as there are members of the LGBTQ community and as POC in top roles. IMI is also staffed and managed predominately by women. It is a refreshing change from other companies. There is a Fun and Service Committee to help keep us engaged with each other as well as with our teams. Since we are working with non profits pay is at the top of what it can be.

Cons

Wish we had a vending machine for snacks

Very supportive management

Pros

Since we're small, management includes all staff in the company's decision-making. The owners take open door policy very seriously and I'm never afraid to go to them. Work hours are flexible - the parents on the team are very supported in taking time to take care of their kids. The owners are always willing to work with you when it comes to work-life balance. Working at home one day a week is one of the top benefits.

Cons

Since it's still a small company, the medical and dental benefits are not great and the salaries are in the nonprofit range. With healthcare being so expensive, it's hard for a small company to match the benefits of the big companies in the area. However, everyone is made to clearly understand that during the interview process. Career opportunities are limited at this time but I'm hoping they will expand as we grow.

Pros

I really enjoyed my job and still have friends who still work for IMI. The morale for the most part was good, there is a Fun Committee who puts together events throughout the year, some onsite and some offsite. I had a work from home day which was nice. IMI has decent benefits, not the best but not bad. The VP did a really good job at creating a positive atmosphere and worked to keep morale high but I think her hands were tied by the owner when it came to big decisions. We normally received some kind of bonus during the Holidays.

Cons

The work could be stressful during conference time. Training was a little too hands on, would have been nice to have more guidance. I would have liked to have been paid more but working with non-profit associations, the money isn't always available. The owner was rarely in the office and a bit demanding though I have heard she has since retired and sold the company to the VP which I think is a good thing.

IMI Association Executives Response

During my first year as president, I’ve solicited feedback from current employees which has been helpful to shape the company and I find feedback from former employees to be extremely helpful as well so thank you so much for taking the time to post a review of IMI. I wish all the best to you in your new position. -Linda
