A work culture to avoid

Pros

Lots of healthy food and snacks. Work drinks are fun. Good office location.

Cons

- Working hours are very long because there is an expectation to always work late. - High turnover of staff this year due to a 'hire and fire' approach, as well as people leaving due to the culture/working hours. - Senior management is poorly organised, lack of leadership and no development program.

Pros

Modern office in great part of London - snacks and coffee machine provided.

Cons

Despite initial high hopes for this agency, unfortunately it came to light quickly that the culture and working environment at MCCGLC is very unhealthy. Despite being sold by recruiters that this is one of the only agencies that has a 7-hour working day, this is far from the case. There is an expectation to work long hours and there is absolutely no consideration or acknowledgement for personal boundaries. Management are disorganised, completely out of touch with the thoughts/needs of employees and staff are frequently guilt tripped if they push back on unrealistic expectations. Management also exercise a cut-throat hire and fire policy. There are no formal development plans in place and it seems the agency operates on a reactive ‘fight fires’ approach rather than proactive forward planning.

Toxic working culture and temperamental CEO

Pros

- On a non-management level the team is friendly and committed. - Nice offices. - Central location. - Good salary.

Cons

- Dinosaur macho management style. - Poor planning. - Temperamental CEO who can switch from enthusiastic and passionate to aggressive and insulting (depending on what mood he's in). - Very resistant to hear about any issues and make positive change. - No formal HR department. - Old school culture where people are fired on a whim.
